Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa, has described the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, as a phenomenal leader and mentor whose lifetime of public service remains a masterclass in purposeful governance.
In a goodwill message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Dave Agboola, on behalf of his family, colleagues, and the entire staff of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Obasa joined millions of Nigerians at home and abroad in celebrating the First Lady on her 66th birthday.
The Speaker said the Lagos Assembly remains profoundly grateful for the First Lady’s foundational role and enduring guidance during her tenure as First Lady of Lagos State, noting that her political mentorship shaped many leadership journeys in the state and beyond.
“Your transition from the state level to becoming a three-term Senator and now the First Lady of the Republic has been a masterclass in purposeful public service,” Obasa stated.
He lauded the First Lady’s impact through her flagship initiative, the Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI), saying she has redefined the Office of the First Lady by bringing tangible relief directly to ordinary Nigerians.
Highlighting her key interventions, Obasa praised her as a champion of women and trade for empowering thousands of women petty traders with ₦50,000 grants across the six geopolitical zones alongside livelihood tools like freezers, generators, and grinding machines to promote financial self-sufficiency.
He further described her as an architect of humanitarian relief through her five-point welfare initiatives, including the Emergency Cash Transfer Programme and HOPE-SP, which provide critical economic lifelines to vulnerable households.
Referencing her advocacy for future generations, the Speaker commended Mrs Tinubu’s deep commitment to girl-child education, citing the commissioning of the newly renovated Alternative High School for Girls in Agboju, Lagos, and the distribution of over 140,000 educational books through the “Educating Linda” scholarship drive.
He also recognized her environmental advocacy through the launch of the national RHI Green Nigeria Challenge, aimed at inspiring youths to champion proactive climate action.
Obasa added that the First Lady’s steadfast partnership with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, remains a shining light for Nigeria’s democracy.
“On this special day, we pray that Almighty God continues to bless you with robust health, divine wisdom, and many more years of joyful, impactful service to our fatherland. Happy Birthday, Ma,” the statement concluded.
