The appearance of campaign posters bearing the image of Dr Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim in Katsina is adding to the growing visibility of the Accord presidential candidate across Nigeria’s North West, where support groups are intensifying efforts to mobilise voters ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Posters promoting Hashim have reportedly surfaced in parts of Katsina, signalling another phase of grassroots visibility for the candidate as his supporters seek to expand his political presence beyond his established support networks.
The development comes amid increasing mobilisation around Hashim’s presidential ambition in the North West, a region widely regarded as strategically important to the outcome of Nigeria’s next presidential election.
In recent weeks, campaign activities and public expressions of support for Hashim have also been reported in neighbouring states, including Kano, Kaduna and Jigawa.
In Kano, support group leaders led by Hon. Miko Bashir reportedly announced a mobilisation target of two million votes for Hashim, while campaign posters bearing his image were said to have appeared across the state.
In Kaduna, social media users shared images and videos of Hashim’s posters around Kawo Bridge and other locations in the metropolis, accompanied by the slogan, “Sabon Nigeria, Sai Hashim”, a message presenting the Accord candidate as an option for a new political direction.
In Jigawa, Accord senatorial candidate Aminu Aminu expressed confidence that Hashim could defeat President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the state. The statement was made during a stakeholders’ engagement in Dutse involving leaders of different support groups ahead of the candidate’s campaign activities.
The regional mobilisation has also been linked to a six million vote target announced by the Hashim Progressive Movement, covering the seven North West states of Jigawa, Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara.
Katsina’s emergence in this sequence adds another state to the growing geographical spread of the campaign’s reported visibility.
With the 2027 elections approaching, the activities of Hashim’s supporters suggest an effort to build a regional political base around his candidacy, positioning the North West as a significant theatre in the Accord Party’s national campaign.
