The grassroots campaign of Accord Party presidential candidate, Dr Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, is extending into rural and underserved communities across Kano, Katsina and Kaduna, the prominent KKK States as well as Jigawa, in a mobilization drive linked to an ambitious six million vote target for the North West.

The campaign is moving beyond major towns and established political centres to reach rural populations, taking Hashim’s message directly to communities that are often overlooked during conventional election campaigns.

The initiative reflects an effort by the candidate’s mobilizers to build a wider grassroots network across the four States and connect with voters at the community level. By taking the campaign into remote settlements and areas described by the organizers as ungoverned, the mobilization seeks to bring political engagement to communities that frequently experience limited government presence and inadequate public services.

The outreach is part of a broader North-West mobilisation strategy associated with a six-million-vote target announced by the Hashim Progressive Movement. The target covers all seven States in the region: Kano, Katsina, Kaduna, Jigawa, Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara.

The focus on Kano, Katsina and Kaduna, often grouped together by campaign supporters under the KKK label, alongside Jigawa, gives the current rural initiative a strategic regional dimension. It places particular emphasis on building support in States with substantial voting populations while extending the campaign’s reach into communities beyond the main urban centres.

Previous campaign activities have included the appearance of Hashim’s posters in parts of Kano, Kaduna, Katsina and Jigawa, as well as engagement with support groups and political stakeholders. In Jigawa, Accord senatorial candidate Aminu Aminu expressed confidence in Hashim’s ability to challenge President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the State.

The rural campaign now adds another layer to these efforts, taking the mobilization directly to communities whose concerns include insecurity, agricultural livelihoods, infrastructure, education, healthcare and access to economic opportunities.

With the 2027 general elections approaching, the expansion into rural areas signals the campaign’s intention to pursue its Six Million Votes North West target through broader grassroots participation, rather than relying solely on established political networks and urban support.
