The Asiwaju Grassroots Alliance Initiative (AGAIN), a Kwara based community mobilisation group has maintained that the achievements of the current Kwara Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq will boost the chance of re-electing President Bola Tinubu in the 2007 election.
This was the submission of a leader of the group, Barrister Hussein Afolabi.
Afolabi, a legal practitioner and community mobilizer, Barrister Hussein Afolabi is increasingly being tipped as a strong contender for the House of Representatives seat to represent the Edu/Patigi/Moro Federal Constituency, as political momentum continues to build around his name.
Afolabi, a blue blood from Shao community in Moro local government carries a rich legacy of leadership and service. His grandfather, Oba Yusuf Afolabi Oyerinde II, reigned as the Ohoro of Shao Kingdom for five decades (1947–2000), laying a foundation of community stewardship that continues to inspire his path.
Afolabi is well read and travelled. His academic and professional journey reflects not just excellence but local content with a unique mix of global exposure.
He attened Olumawu Nursery and Primary School and the Federal Government College, both in Kwara state, from where he proceeded to the University of Ilorin, where he earned his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) in 2009, followed by his call to the Nigerian Bar in 2010.
He further broadened his horizons with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Furtwangen, Germany, in 2017, and in 2023 obtained certification as an EU Certified Compliance Professional from the Frankfurt School of Finance and Management.
Barrister Hussein Afolabi is a member of both the Nigerian Bar Association and the International Bar Association, and has distinguished himself not only in legal practice but also in community development. He is an active member of the Moro Descendants Development Union (MODDU) and has consistently supported grassroots empowerment initiatives.
Through his role as Founder and Coordinator of the Asiwaju Grassroots Alliance Initiative (AGAIN), he has mobilised communities across Edu/Patigi/Moro federal constituency in alignment with national development goals. His commitment to human capital development is evident in several self-funded interventions, including cash support for petty traders across Moro’s 17 wards, provision of JAMB (UTME) forms for indigent students, and the establishment of the N5 million “Ejire Education Trust Fund” under the Hassan and Hussein Afolabi Foundation, co-founded with his twin brother.
Afolabi is not new to the political scene, he was a front liner in his community during the 2011 general elections, mobilizing people and resources for the then Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), which was one of the political parties that merged to become the All Progressives Congress (APC), and since 2011, he has never been out of touch with political happenings in his dear state.
Those who knows Afolabi closeup have described him as detribalised, well-travelled, and progressive-thinking, and is seen by many as a candidate with the capacity to bring global best practices and local content into legislative representation.
With the recent electoral timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), consultations have intensified across the constituency and his growing acceptance among stakeholders and young voters suggests that he may soon formally join the race to represent Edu/Patigi/Moro federal constituency at the National Assembly.
