Nigeria’s Under 17 Female Football team, the Flamingos, paid back the Germans girls in their coins to win the the third place match and Bronze medal in the on-going Under 17 Female Football World Cup in India.
The Flamingos have theregore become theย firstย Nigerian female U17 team to win a medal at the FIFA U17 Women World Cup.
Nigeria led Germany, which had earlier beaten the Nigerian side 2-1 in their opening encounter in the group stage, 3-0 until the 72nd minute, but gave it up the lead and the game went to penalties.
However Nigeria won the shootout 3-2 to get the Bronze.
