We Can be the Gateway Partner for European Companies, Says Julius Berger

Nigeria’s leading engineering and construction firm, Julius Berger Nigeria PLC, has announced its readiness to serve as a strategic gateway partner for European companies, helping to de‑risk market entry and accelerate project execution for technology, engineering, and capital investment partners across the globe.

Speaking at the just concluded Eurocham Annual Conference and Expo 2026 in Lagos, Thursday, Filipe Lopes of the company’s Strategic Business Development Department who represented the Director, Corporate Development, Jochen Stolle, said, beyond construction, Julius Berger possesses an integrated delivery platform that provides for end-to-end Engineering Procurement and Construction, EPC and design management.

He added that local content compliance and workforce integration, permitting, regulatory interfaces and stakeholder management as well as support to protect bankability and financing processes and proven delivery systems aligned with international Health, Safety and Environment, HSE with Quality Standards ensure the company delivers on projects, be they local or offshore.

However, Lopes further disclosed that the company employs some time-tested and proven collaboration models in the foregoing circumstances. On our collaboration models, Julius Berger embarks on technology partnerships by integrating European systems, equipment and digital solutions into projects where we are the lead, he said.

Still on Julius Berger’s collaboration models, Lopes said, the company is also involved in Consortium Bids for projects either by joint pursuit of Development Finance Institutions, DFIs for sovereign and large private sector projects; adding that on project finance and concession vehicles, there is always room for co-development, construction and lifecycle delivery.

Other aspects of the collaboration models he continued included, local execution partner for European EPCs and proof of concept deployments for pilot projects.

Reeling out landmark projects undertaken and delivered by Julius Berger, the Business Development strategist said, we have delivered on the famous FAMFA Office Tower here in Lagos, Midstream Jetty also in Lagos, the Second Niger Bridge, Azura Power Plant, in Edo state, as well as the Escravos Gas-to-Liquids Plant in Rivers state. And very soon, our feat on the landmark Bodo-Bonny road will be made public, adding that with its Tier-1 integrated capabilities, Julius Berger has proven delivery for Federal Government, state, multinationals and private clients across Nigeria.

Lopes concluded by saying that Julius Berger is looking for, proven European technologies ready for emerging markets, long-term partners aligned with sustainable infrastructure and Environmental, Social and Governance, ESG objectives, co-development of solutions adapted to local context and partners to lifecycle thinking.

According to its President, Yann Gilbert, Eurocham Nigeria, the European Busines Chamber Nigeria is the foremost platform uniting European companies operating across diverse sectors in Nigeria. It was established to strengthen business ties just as it serves as the collective and united voice of European business in Nigeria.

At Eurocham, we promote dialogue with Nigerian stakeholders, policy makers and institutions, ensuring that the perspectives and contributions of European businesses are well represented in discussions that shape Nigeria’s economic environment, the President said.

He further disclosed that, as at the conference date, Eurocham represents a vabriant membership base of over 70 Corporate members and 19 Associate members, cutting across the energy, technology, agriculture, consulting and manufacturing sectors, adding, our mission is to foster trade, drive investment and promote sustainable growth while creating a favourable and enabling business environment for our members to thrive.

Gilbert, called for greater regulatory clarity, consistency and effective execution to strengthen investor confidence and improve the operating environment for European businesses in Nigeria. Saying that Eurocham’s priority remained policy stability and execution, he stressed the need for faster resolution of regulatory issues, stronger public–private dialogue and better alignment between government policies and investor needs.

Amidst an array of companies’ exhibition stands at the Eurocham event, that of Julius Berger had Eurocham’s President leading a team of visitors to make enquiries about the company’s services, with Lopes, Julius Berger’s Senior Executive, Strategic Business Development, Ndifreke Ukochio and the Head, Corporate Communications Department, Dr. James Agama on hand to receive them.
