Kwara Agenda for Asiwaju (KWAGA) ,a foremost support group in APC has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for seeking Supreme Court judgement through his Minister for Justice and Attorney General,Barrister Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) in a suit filed by the federal government against the 36 state governors describing the judgements as a welcome development, victory for democracy and grassrooters. In the Supreme Court judgement delivered on Thursday,11th July 2024 by a seven member panel of Justices led by Justice Emmanuel Agim, all federal funds for local government councils should be paid directly to their respective bank accounts and henceforth no more payments of local government allocations to state government accounts. The judgement also prohibit the governors from receiving, tampering with, or withholding funds meant for local governments while restraining the state governments from dissolving democratically elected officials of local governments and deemed such actions as breach of 1999 constitution.
