A new educational game, AfriTrivia has officially launched in Lagos.
Speaking recently at the launching ceremony which took place on the 7th Of April 2025 in Lagos, Professor Soji Adelaja, Chairman Advisory Board of Jesin Games,, said: “AfriTrivia is a unique game, designed to Promote facts about the African continent, improve awareness about Africa, even among Africans themselves, and to better connect the African diaspora from all over the world to their continent of origin”.
Also, he said: “Many Africans know little or nothing about the rest of their continent, and many people in the diaspora have little opportunity to learn what they lack about their continent because they are left relying on books written by historians or other means of learning not presented by Africans.
“There is very good evidence that learning is significantly enhanced by game-playing. Currently the John A. Hannah Distinguished Professor in Land Policy at the Michigan State University, Professor Adelaja said: “AfriTrivia is “Bridging Cultures Through Play.
We have decided to make learning fun and accessible through AfriTrivia. AfriTrivia is more than just a trivia game, it is also an educational tool, through which you can discover all the cultural and historical diversity in Africa through different topics”.
Special Guest of the occasion, Former Governor of Cross Rivers State, His Excellency Donald Duke while giving his remarks, showered encomium on the developer of the Jesin Games, for bringing up a game-play that will go a long way to cover some vacuum in out learning culture. According to him ” especially for the young once, AfriTrivia Jesin Games will fill the void of lack of knowledge about the African continent. The former Presidential candidate urged the developer to make it available for schools in Nigeria so that they can know more about Africa.
In his remarks, Dr John Esin, AfriTrivia Developer & Chief Executive Officer who is a Medical Doctor ffrom United States said “AfriTrivia is a game that challenges you to test your knowledge on some of the most interesting categories like Quotations, History, Sports and Entertainment, Arts and Culture, Government and Politics, and People and Places about some of the historical sites such as the Rock-Hewn Churches of Lalibela, to The Great Pyramids of Giza.
It is meant for families to play together, friends to play with each other, and classrooms to become “creative centres of learning about our world”, he said.

Finally, he said, “AfriTrivia is exciting , soon, the digital version of AfriTrivia will be available, and it will provide children everywhere with the opportunity to learn more about Africa.
The game will also be launched in Marrakech at the African Heritage Concert and Award Ceremony this weekend, while that of United States launch will come up in few weeks to come.
