Someone who said he had tracked me for more than 20 years called me recently to express his worry over what he called my perpetual giving tendency to the extent that what I preach does not reflect in me as with all my billionaire friends he knows. He wanted me to dissolve the mystery as many people , especially those who have read my book, The Millionaire Capsules also feel the same concern. He needs the answer so that he would know what to tell them.
I responded this:
1. The associations you keep ultimately become flesh in your life. If they are good and you deliberately want to be good you will be good. But on the other hand,’if they are bad , you don’t need to want to be bad, you will be overcome by meanness.
2. I shared the images of the good deeds of my friend over 38 years , Tim AKANO, CEO of New Horizon System Solution and good deeds done to me by other friends even to the point of discomfort to them. I coveted that virtue and we are trying little by little
3. I shared the story of a 99 -year old Moslem elder who my Motivator-in-Chief, Mr Remi Babalola , former Minister of Finance got me to interview . I was blown away by the simplicity of the man and his closeness to one of his sons Rotimi Oyekanmi who happened to be a close friend to Remi Babalola. The summary of my encounter with him is this:
“If many people know what he now knows in the 10th floor of life, they would not bother about 90% of what is engaging their time at this young age. According to him “When you are old , your toys in the form of cars and other luxuries will not count. It is the people you have touched one way or the other that will bring joy at old age”. I have also discovered that the secret to healthy ,long life is to live a simple life without holding malice against anyone , no matter their offences”
According to him only and daily prayer is that God will preserve his life and allow him to reach 100…just some few days away
So join me in celebrating Pa Oyekanmi who will be turning 100 on December 4, 2024 and my new friend ,Rotimi Oyekanmi , for demonstrating to me what love to one’s parent should be’. Truly I was envious
