The Kwara State Gubernatorial candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Alhaji Hakeem Oladimeji Lawal has bemoaned the level of infrastructural deficit in the Northern part of the State, stressing that the plight of the Kwara North has refused to change despite Otoge triumph at the 2019 polls.

Lawal who made this disclosure while addressing party faithfuls and residents of Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State, at the Kwara North Senatorial election campaign flag off, stressed that one would have expected massive turnaround in the fortunes of the people as being mouthed by the present government.

According to him “even though we rightly voted out the Saraki dynasty in 2019, yet, the plight of the Kwara northerners has refused to change. The entire Pategi Local Government is suffering from acute infrastructural deficit and that’s largely the same reality across the remaining four local government areas of Kwara North and indeed the whole of Kwara.”

In his words: “This is not the time for sectional or sentimental agitations, rather we all should be purposive in prioritizing demands for even spread of dividends of democracy.

“Infrastructural deficit, unemployment and underemployment etc are non-respecter of ethnic, religious and sectional biases. Thus, our search for way-outs, must be solution and not primordial sentiment driven.”

Speaking in the same vein, Akogun Iyiola Oyedepo said: “We’ve been ruled by Gov. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for the last 3 years, he’s not been able to fundamentally transform the State. He’s found of saying he has transformed Kwara North, sadly there’s nothing on ground to show any serious improvement.

“The infrastructures has continued to deteriorate, the roads leading here has remained its sorry self, therefore the electorates of Kwara North should refuse to re-enforce failures. That’s not however to mean we should go back to our vomit which we said Otoge to. I enjoin us all to troop out enmass to vote the SDP across board.”

Appreciating Pategi indigenes and residents for coming out in their thousands to identify with the SDP, the State Chairman of the party, Alhaji AbdulAzeez Afolabi maintained that: “Today is epochal, we’ve seen the love and overwhelming acceptance the good people of Pategi LG and indeed the entirety of Kwara North has shown to the SDP. We’re rest assured that the party will emerge convincingly victorious come 2023.
