BODY OF MISSING GIRL ALLEGEDLY GANG-RAPED FOUND IN A WELL

The PPRO said police operatives have arrested the prime suspect who was seen with the deceased at a wedding before she was declared missing.

The lifeless body of a 16-year-old girl, Habiba Samaila, was reportedly dumped inside a well in Ringim community, Begúwa Local Government Area of Jigawa State, days after she was reported missing.

Spokesperson of the State Police Command, DSP Lawan Adam, who confirmed the incident on recently, said investigation is ongoing.

Her family alleged that she was gang raped by her boyfriend and his friends before her body was thrown into a old well on the outskirt of the village.

It was gathered that the deceased was declared missing on Saturday, August 12, 2023.

According to reports, her family members made a fruitless search for her since then and on Wednesday, August 16, some residents on their way to the farmed perceived foul odour emanating from the well.

The body was evacuated by security operatives and buried according to Islamic rites.

Spokesperson of the State Police Command, DSP Lawan Adam, who confirmed the incident on Saturday, August 19, said investigation is ongoing.

The PPRO said police operatives have arrested the prime suspect who was seen with the deceased at a wedding before she was declared missing.
