A letter signed by the Acting Clerk of the House, seen by our correspondent, stated that the House management invited the DSS’ and other security agencies because the House management was afraid of an imminent breakdown of law and order.

The letter surfaced following public alarm about the heavy presence of DSS’ and other security officials at the House complex on Monday, causing insinuations that the DSS’ may have been acting on behalf of the Presidency to reinstate the recently removed Speaker Mudashiru Obasa.

But the letter, seen by our correspondent, showed that the security agencies were lawfully invited to the legislative chambers.

The letter, bearing reference number: LSHA/FAD/0/7554/323, was signed by the Acting Clerk of the Assembly, Mr. A.T.B. Ottun, and addressed to the DSS Director in Lagos, as well as the heads of other security agencies in the state.

It indicated that there were plans to forcefully reinstate Obasa on February 18, 2025, and this could lead to a security risk.

It warned that such an attempt posed “a potential security threat to the Assembly and its members.”

It was titled: “URGENT: ENHANCED SECURITY MEASURES FOR LSHA PREMISES”.

It reads: “I wish to bring to your attention a pressing matter that requires immediate action. The impeached Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly plans to resume to office on the 18th of February, 2025 as the Speaker, posing a potential security threat to the Assembly and its members.

“In light of this situation, we kindly request that you take necessary measures to fortify the security of the Assembly premises with effect from Sunday 16th February, 2025 by increasing the presence of your Men and as well observe a strict access control within and outside the Assembly premises till further notice.

“We look forward to your prompt attention Sir. Thank you.

“Mr. А.Т. В. Ottun, The Acting Clerk of the House.” ‎<This message was edited>
