Last night, our efforts and interventions in the health sector again came up for recognition in Abuja as our state won the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF)’s Primary Healthcare Leadership Challenge award. Kwara State was rated the best state in basic healthcare delivery in the entire North Central region owing to the improvement recorded in the sector in the last four years.
In accordance with the Seatle Declarations, the criteria for the award included variables such as government’s support and commitment, quality of service delivery, improvement in the health indices and outcomes, community participation and ownership, among others, in the award category.
I am excited about the recognition. It is a tonic for us to do a lot more in the health sector, which has been a cardinal focus of our administration. We will not drop the ball. I thank all our health workers for their commitment to and support for the vision of our administration.
The award was received on behalf of the state by the Commissioner for Health Dr Raji Razaq and the Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Primary Health Care Development Agency Dr. Nusirat Elelu at the event attended by several serving and former Governors from different parts of the country.
