In order to enhance students’ performance during the crucial examination period of the West Africa Examinations Council (WAEC) and the National Examinations Council (NECO), BIC – a leader in stationery – donated necessary writing tools to students in Lagos State. The contribution towards the education space stems from the company’s commitment to improving learning conditions for 250 million students by the year 2025, as part of its sustainable development program, Writing the Future Together.

The donation  took place at the Lagos State Secretariat in Alausa Ikeja in presence of the Honorable Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr Jamiu Alli-Balogun; Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education Mr. Abayomi Abolaji; and BIC representatives, Mr. Adeyemi Ojo and Mr. Patrick Bello.

Representatives from selected schools also attended the event.

Commending the efforts of the Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Sanwoolu, Adeyemi Ojo, Business Development lead at BIC Nigeria said: “We are honoured to support the education space in Nigeria, and more specifically the Lagos State government today. We are humbled to have had the opportunity to contribute towards improving learning conditions for our youth by providing them with the necessary writing tools during the most crucial examination period. We believe that quality education is fundamental to shaping our nation’s future, and remain committed to supporting the sector. We are confident that working alongside Lagos State Government under the T.H.E.M.E policy agenda will allow us to leverage our initiatives further to support the wider community.”
The Honorable Commissioner, Jamiu Alli-Balogun, acknowledged BIC’s significant support: “We are grateful for BIC’s generosity. As a household name known for high-quality pens, this donation will make a real difference in the lives of our students. We encourage BIC to explore further collaboration in areas like student scholarships, teacher training, digitalization of our schools, and school infrastructure development, aligning with our T.H.E.M.E PLUS agenda.”
The Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Education, Abayomi Abolaji in his own remarks, added: “The provision of education is primarily the responsibility of the government, but it cannot accomplish this alone. Every contribution, big or small, adds up to significantly support to our education system. We appreciate BIC for bolstering government efforts.”
BIC’s commitment to education in Nigeria aims to empower students to reach their full potential inside and outside the classroom. Starting from providing the necessary writing tools in the classroom, refurbishing facilities to create inspiring learning environments, unleashing students’ creativity through art competitions, all the way to preparing youth for life after university through internships and professional opportunities.
