I join millions of our compatriots in Kwara State to thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the appointment of Alhaji Abdullateef Alakawa as Chairman of River Niger Basin Authority, Ilorin and two other Kwarans- Engr. Babajamu Adeniran and Engr. Alanamu Ayinla Abolore – as Executive Directors in the same organization.
I congratulate our performing Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON for facilitating these high-level federal appointments as yet another evidence of his national influence and his endearing reward system.
It is not surprising that Alakawa’s appointment has elicited widespread jubilation. A grassroot politician, he is known for his political dexterity, his strong electoral values and his high level of competency.
Alakawa’s contributions to Kwara’s progressive political development are significant. A former firebrand Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party ( PDP) in Kwara State, he was a driving force n the OtoGe movement that swept away the old political order in our state. As Special Adviser, Political Affairs to Governor AbdulRazaq during his first term, the political czar helped to keep alive the spirit of OtoGe in governance.
Alakawa’s political life is a lesson in perseverance, loyalty , political wisdom and divine guidance.
This is one federal appointment to a homegrown politician that excites me. I’m confident that he will use his position to bring smiles to more faces of our people.
