The Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mallam Lanre Issa Onilu believes that the New media, which includes social media can help grow Nigeria’s image positively and make Nigerians very proud. He will be speaking at a colloquium at the first University of Lagos Mass Communicaiton Alumi Association (UMCAA) Communications festival holding from the 16-18th of April 2024 at the Department of Mass Communication.

The Homecoming festival of graduates of the department which is the pioneer mass communication department in west Africa will witness a return of great communication experts who studied at the department and have become noted for exploits across the world. In a three-day celebration, the graduates are returning to collectively give back to their alma mater. Under their Town meets Gown projects, they will be hosting series of Colloquial to celebrate the return and interact with the students in the department.

Onilu who is himself a graduate of the prestigious department and university, a renowned journalist and publisher, has been invited to speak at the colloquium on the plans of the National Orientation Agency (noa) under the new dispensation. According to the President of the Unilag Mass Communication Alumni Association, Adewale Williams, “Mallam Issa Onilu is a proud alumnus of our department and has been doing great in his new dispensation as the DG. We have called him to speak to Nigerians about the plans of the Tinubu administration for Nigeria. As a communicator, he will be coming to share his ideas with us and get questions and answers on what they are doing at the agency. He will be taking his time to speak on new media and national orientation. We believe a lot can and will be learnt from this process.”

On Wednesday 17th, at 2pm at the department of mass communication, Mallam Onilu will address the world live and via zoom. Questions will be answered and suggestions will be made. As a communication Expert, Onilu will be looking at getting different angles on his topic and take the positives out to help him with the job of moving the nation forward.
