In a significant development, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has taken decisive action by dismissing the Commissioner who threatened judges presiding over the governorship elections petition tribunal in the state.
A viral video on social media captured Commissioner of Land and Physical Planning, Adamu Kibiya, making disturbing statements to the judges, essentially forcing them to make a choice between their lives and their professional duties during the delivery of judgments.
Addressing the media at the Government House in Kano on Friday, Commissioner of Information, Baba Halilu Dantiye, conveyed the governor’s directive for the immediate removal of Commissioner Kibiya from his position.
Furthermore, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf approved the dismissal of his Special Adviser on Youth and Sports, Aliyu Yusuf Imam, also known as ‘Ogan Boye,’ due to his reckless and disrespectful comments.
Commissioner Dantiye emphasized that the statements made by Kibiya and Oga Boye do not reflect the official stance of the State Government.
As part of this new directive, the government has made it clear that no government official should speak on any matter beyond the scope of their respective Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) without obtaining prior clearance and permission.
