Governor Abdulraham Abdulrazaq of Kwara State  today received the report of the Forensic audit into the State treasury between 2011 to 2019, which cover the tenure of his predecessor, Fathah Ahmed.

According to the governor, “today, I received the forensic audit report on Kwara State Government between 2011-2019. It was carried out by an independent audit group, SSAC Advisory and Professionals Services.

“According to the forensic audit, atleast N11.9bn of public funds were carted away from the treasury of Kwara State between 2011 and 2019 without any lawful tie to any project or programme.

“The audit also showed that N2bn cash withdrawals not tied to any project or official expenditures were made within eight days in February 2019, barely one month to the general election. This is amid other mind-boggling revelations of alleged malfeasance within the period.

“These are indeed most disturbing, unfortunate and ungodly acts against the state. These revelations, however, go to confirm all we have been saying about the pilfering of the public funds in those years.

“We will study the report carefully and see how we can draw up new policy instruments to prevent such in the future.

“We will also seriously consider other recommendations, including the prosecution and recovery of public funds from persons and firms identified in the heist.”
