Dr. Abdul is the dynamic and forward-thinking Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Abdul Metro Group Limited, a diversified conglomerate based in Lagos, Nigeria, with core competencies in real estate development, energy, construction, retail, and facility management. With over a decade of proven leadership across high-impact sectors, he is known for transforming ambitious ideas into thriving enterprises that address urgent societal needs, particularly in housing, infrastructure, and youth empowerment. With a calm mien but dogged insight, he delivers on his mandates perfectly to the admiration of clients.

He brings to the real estate sector a wealth of executive management experience built on years in the downstream oil and gas industry. His professional journey began in that sector, where he served as CEO of Integrated Metroplex Energies Limited for over 13 years, mastering operational efficiency and energy logistics before transitioning into real estate and infrastructure. He successfully led operations there before diversifying into real estate development and founding Metro & Castle in 2014.

Today, as the founder and CEO of Abdul Metro Group, Dr. Abdul oversees a portfolio of thriving subsidiaries, including: Metro Homes, affordable luxury residential communities; Metropolis Square, premium retail and commercial spaces; Metroplex Energies, petroleum supply and logistics, and Metro Facilities, facility and property management services.

Through strategic vision and disciplined execution, Abdul has led the development of over 300 residential units across Lagos and Ogun State, helping reduce Nigeria’s housing deficit with dignified, accessible, and well-serviced estates. His thoroughbred efficiency appears in all his dealings, combining everything that a community needs to function effectively, ranging from sports outlets and retail spaces to residential construction and facility management.

Reflecting on the exploits of the brand in an interview last year, Dr. Abdul shared his structural philosophy:

“We do everything that a community needs to function effectively, ranging from sports outlets, retail outlets, to residential construction, to facilities management and others. Whatever you can think of that a community needs to survive, we do. Our message has been very consistent over the years. We know that since the last time we were here, the first five years, 300 housing units has been the slogan for all these years. At that time, we delivered 240 units because of COVID. We had a delay in 2020 due to COVID and had some shortfalls. So, out of 300, we were able to deliver 240 units.”

Looking ahead, his layout for corporate growth is even more ambitious:

“From this year 2025 to 2030, our next five-year projection is to deliver 500 housing units. We have started already, and 10 per cent of the housing is already delivered as I speak, and we are rounding up now. We have about 450 housing units to go. We’ve expanded our scope out of this current community to engage a few government bodies to give us the opportunity to work with them. Now that we have the proof of concept on the ground, we are no longer going there with our mouths to say we can do this; we are going there to tell them to come and see what we have done. And a lot of them appreciate our handiwork.

“I think we’ve established our new retail site. We also do retail, which is large supermarket outlets for the community to benefit from. In the current community, we’ve established three of those and one warehouse and a bakery. We put our strides together based on our raw knowledge on the streets, trying to build a community and also bringing in intellectual property with other people. Then, the law of the land, what the law says when you want to bring in people to invest in property.”

This community-centric approach is backed by rigorous academic training. Dr. Abdul holds a degree in Construction Management with a specialization in Cost Control from the Community College of Baltimore County, Maryland, USA. He also holds an Honorary Master’s Degree in Community Development, awarded in recognition of his contributions to urban transformation and housing solutions in Nigeria.

Crucially, his vision extends beyond his own balance sheets. The company also boasts of arming real estate operators with the knowledge and skills to outsmart fraudsters and clean up Nigeria’s property market by running regular training programs for realtors.

Perhaps the most enduring legacy of Dr. Abdul’s 44-year journey is his dedication to human capital. In 2021, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Youth Council honoured him for his exemplary efforts in youth empowerment.

With over 200 direct and indirect employees under his watch, maintaining an average age profile of just 25 years, this real estate expert has proven to be a befitting young leader. This dedication earned him the prestigious ‘Nelson Mandela Leadership Award of Excellence and Integrity’, alongside a formal decoration as an Ambassador to the Youth organization.

As he celebrates his 44th year, Nigeria’s housing landscape is undeniably better off for his all-inclusive community development model.
