The immediate past Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs and Excise Alhaji Abdullahi Dikko Inde may have fled from the long arms of the anti-graft agency. Sources said he escaped to the United Arab Emirate (Dubai) through Jibiya Border in Katsina State when he got a tip-off that men of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC were in Kaduna to arrest him.

Sources in Customs hinted that that most senior custom officers who had it rough under Dikko had told the new Comptroller General, Colonel Hamid Alli,(rtd) that huge sums of money were diverted by top officers of the service were diverted under his watch.

Another source alleged that the sum of N5 billion Naira was said to have being found in an account of a junior custom officer close to the former Custom boss and several assorted vehicles were also found in this officer’s farm in Abuja.

The source added this is one of the reason why the new comptroller General Colonel directed that all custom personnel should declared their assets, to verify allegations that some serving custom officers have billions of Naira in their accounts.
